The Hype!

For the Star Wars fan-boys, February 10th, 2012 is considered a holiday. As a fan-boy myself, I am counting down the days until the release, and watching Star Wars DVD I own, from Episodes 1-6, and the Clone Wars series (that airs on Cartoon Network). Yes, all of us that are going to the theater are paying probably ten dollars or so to see the same Star Wars movie we own on DVD, but the difference is, is that it is in 3D. Star Wars in 3D? This sounds like a dream come true, aside from the Star Wars Lego games that we all loved so much (come on now, all the fan's dig the Lego games, no matter how old you are). Regardless of your opinion on 3D movies, or Star Wars, this will be the ultimate experience to remember (especially for us fan-boys who are die hard fans).

Synopsis

Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace, is the start of the rise of the dark lord, Darth Vader. The movie starts off with Obi-Wan Kenobi and his master, Qui-Gon Jinn venturing into a Trade Federation space station, to negotiate the blockading of the planet Naboo. The negotiations turn into a hostile assault on the two fellow Jedi knights. They escape the station and venture to the nearby planet, Naboo, where the Trade Federation has commenced an assault on the planet. Thus, while on the planet, Qui-Gon Jinn rescues a humorous Gungan, named Jar-Jar Binks. Jar-Jar takes the two Jedi to the underwater Gungan city (which he happens to be banished from due to his clumsiness), where the Jedi negotiate with the Gungan leader, Boss Nass, about taking Jar-Jar with them in their journey as a guide. The two Jedi and Jar-Jar embark to the Naboo palace, rescuing Queen Amidala from the clutch of the Trade Federation. During their escape, their space cruiser was damaged causing them to land on a remote planet named Tatooine. Whilst on the planet, they need to find a new hyper-drive core to power their spaceship to make it to Coruscant; the home planet of the Jedi Council. They find a pawn shop in the space port (or city) of Mos Eisley. In the shop, Qui-Gon consults the store owner, Watto, about buying a power source for a Nubian space ship. Watto declines Qui-Gon's currency (for he does not accept Nubian currency). While in the store, Padme was conversing with a slave of Watto's, which we find out is Anakin Skywalker as a child. After a series of complications, Qui-Gon bets with Watto on Anakin's pod-race. The stakes were if Qui-Gon won, then the boy goes free. Qui-Gon wins, and Anakin then tags along with him while walking to their space ship. During the walk, Qui-Gon gets attacked; by a mysterious man, named Darth Maul. After an escape from the man, they make it to Coruscant, where Anakin is to be trained as a Jedi. They consult the problems with the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo. Taking action, they travel back to Naboo, and convince the Gugans to aid them in their fight to take back the planet that is rightfully theirs. After a vicious battle between Gungan and battle droids, the story focuses then on with the counter invasion of the Nubian Palace. Darth Maul then appears, and the Jedi face him. While the Jedi are fighting Darth Maul, Padme and her bodyguards capture the Trade Federation leaders in the throne room. During all of this, Anakin knocked out the Trade Federation Control Ship (which controlled all of the battle droids on the planet Naboo) on complete accident by hitting the main reactor core with proton missiles. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan struggle in an intense battle with Darth Maul. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon become separated because Darth Maul kicked Obi-Wan off of a ledge, causing him to fall to a different level of the vault they are fighting in. They are then, trapped in between ray shields, preventing their movement. Obi-Wan is stopped at the last ray shield in the hallway, where he is forced to see his master, Qui-Gon, get stabbed in the torso by Darth Maul. When the ray shields release, Obi-Wan viciously assaults Maul, and Maul pushes him into an abyss-like circle in the middle of the room, where he hung onto a bump on the wall, then proceeds with kicking his lightsaber down the hole. Left defenseless as Maul taunted him from above, Obi-Wan force jumps up the hole, pulling Qui-Gon's lightsaber to him using the force, and slices Darth Maul in half; falling backwards into the abyssal hole in two separate pieces. The end of the movie is a celebration of the liberation of Naboo, and then turns into a sad moment, when Qui-Gon is being cremated.

So, Are You Ready?

Are you ready for this awesome-ness to appear right in front of your eyes. Literally, right in front of your eyes, because it's in 3D! This is the right way to kick off 2012. I think this re-release might be even bigger than this years Superbowl Sunday celebration! Now, my question on this whole 3D re-release is, are they going to make a Star Wars DVD out of this? based on the fact that 3D televisions are emerging out of the clear blue, is it only a matter of time before I can enjoy this new 3D movie on my own television in my own house!? lets hope, that another boxed set of all six Star Wars DVD's are released in 3D!
