How To Make Money: Tips and Suggestions
67
Hello!
I'm here to provide all of you teenagers or adults out there on some friendly and easy ways on how to make money. Now, I'm aware that our economy is in the trash-heap, but that doesn't mean money is non-existent! As a fellow young adult, I've spent countless hours applying for jobs with no luck, trying to walk aimlessly around my suburban neighborhood doing odd jobs (shoveling snow, cutting grass, etc), so I know how hard it can be for a teenager to make an honest buck in today's world. I hope these tips guide you towards some success in making money. Just remember one thing, your not alone. Countless amounts of teens are searching for any way possible to make money now-a-days. But you may or may not know, all of the right answers are directly in front of you, so now it's time to stop searching and get working!
Odd-Jobs
This is the obvious way all teenagers tend to make money. From cutting a neighbors grass, to shoveling their snow, or raking their leaves. However, one thing I've done while providing these services to my neighbors, was get my name out around the neighborhood a little more. I started with printing up some fliers, and then took a walk around the city posting them on telephone poles. Sounds like it wouldn't work, right? Well, it did, however, work. I received two calls from elderly people, that seen my flier while walking their dogs, and they hired me to cut their grass weekly. They both payed me $20 each time, which added up to an extra $40 a week. Also, when winter hit, my phone had rang again. The same elderly people had called me asking me to shovel their snow, so i got my shovel, and went to the houses and got the jobs done. While shoveling the second elderly man's house, his neighbor asked me to shovel her snow as well, paying me $40. So in that one day, I walked home with around $90 in my pocket, for two hours of work. That's $45 an hour. So my advice, print some fliers, and post them. Even if you only pick up one client, that's money you're earning that you didn't earn previously.
Making Money Online
How To Make Money Online
Hmm. Sounds a bit tricky, but it's really not. From writing articles on sites such as Hubpages or Squidoo, you can earn revenue from writing about any topic that interests you. For example, I just started writing on Hubpages to make some extra money, but I've noticed after publishing a few Hubs (articles), that writing content to share with billions of people across the world is quite entertaining. The best part of it all, you can communicate with these people, and they'll give you tips on what to do to earn more revenue, or upgrade your content to its greatest ability. If you can do a High School level research paper, you can write articles online. Besides earning revenue, you also sharpen your writing skills in the process, so why not do it? The only catch for writing these articles online and making money, is that you need to have a Google Adsense account, which takes a few days to create due to an approval process. However, doing this method takes patience; you won't be able to publish three or four articles and expect to make twenty dollars. So if you enjoy writing, and you have patience, this is a great method for anyone; not just a teenager to make a little extra money. You've got nothing to lose by writing articles online, just remember that!
Crafting, Perhaps.
This is not a suggested method by majority of people, but if you enjoy making things, buy the materials in bulk, craft the item, and sell them on Ebay. This method was taught to me by my Agricultural-Science teacher. For example, in his class, he taught us how to make fishing lures, such as inline spinners and crawler harnesses. They cost approximately $0.45 to make, and they have a potential of selling for $2.00 or $3.00 per lure. They're also relatively easy to make, I crafted about six in an hour after his demonstration on how to make them. Those six made in that hour, could have sold for roughly $18.00. That's $18.00 an hour for relatively easy work. You can even craft other things, I've seen someone selling home made pet rocks on Ebay anywhere from $2.00-$5.00, and honestly, how much does one of those cost to make? Probably about $0.30 cents or so. Just keep this in mind, there's always someone looking to buy something, regardless of what it is. Remember, "One man's junk, is another man's treasure."
The Typical Method..
Yes, you've probably heard this about a thousand times or so, but get a job. Yes, it is a challenge to get a job in today's economy, but it's not impossible. I'd say take a whole day, and do absolutely nothing, but fill out job applications, whether it be online or a paper application. Here are some tips on increasing your chances on receiving a job. Number one: Look presentable! I cannot stress this enough. Say you go into a place of business and ask for an application, and it looks like you just rolled out of bed, they're not going to receive a good first impression of you. Take up proper hygiene and proper grooming; and don't wear scraggly clothing; look neat! Number two: Always give a firm business handshake after receiving an application, or while turning in an application. This is a small gesture that has a giant meaning behind it; it shows you're handling things in a professional manner. Number 3: This tip is quite obvious, but you would be surprised on how many people do not do this while filling out a paper application or an online application. Proper spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. Say, perhaps your application goes against another possible employee's application, and your application has spelling errors, as well as no capitalization of proper nouns, while the other applicant made their application flawless; no issues what so ever. Who do you think has a better chance of receiving an interview? The applicant with errors throughout their application, or the applicant with no errors throughout their application? The answer is quite obvious. Last but not least, number 4: When going into an interview, no matter what the job is, look professional. Don't go to an interview wearing your normal everyday clothes. Yes, people have done this, and may have gotten a job while wearing street clothes, but truth is, the employer looks to see who will approach the job more professionally, no matter what the position is. Like the handshake, dressing professionally for an interview is a small gesture, with a giant meaning behind it.
